This review is based on 20 pre-k kids, they all loved it and thought it was the coolest thing ever! I really enjoyed making this and it was so beautiful once I got it all decorated. I used wilton dye and used the 18 tip for both the green and the pink. Thanks for posting such a fun cake that will make any kid smile.

Very delicious cake w/ gorgeous presentation. The grandkids LOVED it and the kids did too. I found it a bit sweet for me but that may be due to old age and my "sweet" taste buds dying off... *lol* I used the watermelon-kiwi koolaid and Wilton food coloring to dye the cake batter. I made a buttercream frosting b/c I'd rather not get into the all the additives in the prepared frostings. I followed the directions and didn't have a lick of trouble. What wasn't eaten at dinner last night was finished at today's lunch! Thanks for sharing such a neat recipe.

This is on the cover of the one of the food magazines in the checkout lane right now. I'm not sure which one. I made four of these for the holiday. I made minor changes. When looking for the Kool aide called for in the recipe, I noticed that they have Watermelon Kiwi flavored, but it is clear (no pink/red dyes). I'm a cake decorator, so I have red food coloring at home, so I bought the watermelon/kiwi Kool Aide. I followed the rest of the recipe as posted. I got lot's of oh's and ah's from the kids. Everyone said it looked and tasted like watermelon. Thank you for posting this recipe.
