We really loved this cake! I made it in a bundt pan and it was done in 45 minutes. I really wondered about the glaze and a frosting, but it works great. Everyone loved it! This one is a keeper! Thanks to Tarynne!

Mmmmmmmm.... this was a really good cake. I substituded applesauce for oil and 6 egg whites for 3 eggs. My husband and I really like everything but the frosting. I think next time I will use store bought coconut icing or plain white icing and sprinkle with coconut flakes. This would be a great St. Patrick's Day or Easter cake. Also... could be my oven, but I only needed to cook it for 45 minutes.

This recipe is also like my mothers. I omit the nuts and also found the 45 min. bake time was all that was necessary. I aded 1/4 teaspoon of cornstarch to the whipped topping to give it more of an icing look with the coolwhip taste. Yummy!

This is also my mom's recipe. We love this cake. It has such a nice light flavor. I especially like it in the summer time.

I believe they called it Watergate Cake because it was served at the famous Watergate Hotel. I hope this is right. Lisa
