Everyone loves these at Super Bowl parties. A couple years ago I brought them to the Orlando Brewing Company's party and two enormous platters were completely finished. You can buy the colored M&M's at or at M&M's World in Orlando, Las Vegas or New York. I make two batches, one for each team's colors. These could be considered "good" treats for people avoiding bad carbs since they have oatmeal instead of white flour, but "healthy" may be a stretch!

  1. Mix all ingredients in a food processor or mixer, except for chocolate chips and M&M's which could get crushed; stir in the chocolate chips by hand.
  2. Drop by tablespoons on an ungreased cookie sheet (I use a scoop which makes it so easy); then press 4-6 M&M's on the top of each cookie.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until just starting to turn brown; cool for 5-10 minutes before removing from cookie sheet to avoid breakage.

It was a lot of fun making these for my daughter's horseback riding group. I used a bag of M&Ms in Valentine's Day colors, and put I a pink, red, white, and purple candy on the top of each cookie. The girls really liked that and thought it was festive. And I liked the fact that this cookie recipe used oatmeal (in place of flour). But the kids thought the peanut butter was too overpowering, and I agree. Next time, I think I'll reduce the peanut butter to perhaps 1 cup and see if that works better for us. But it was a lot of fun making these cookies. This is a recipe I will remember for almost any party celebration or special occasion, because they can easily be customized for almost any occasion.

I made this for super bowl--it was a big hit!!! I left out the M&M's because I forgot to order them. I will be making these a lot. Thanks for posting--- Wisconsin Mom

Crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle - just perfect for me! I threw in 1c of millet for additional crunchiness and stirred the m&m's into the dough. I did replace 1c of oats with 1c whole wheat flour and used a mixer to combine everything. Took them out of the oven at around 13 minutes. I'd add a smidge of salt next time since my butter and PB were both unsalted. Great warm out of the oven and keep very well cuz are wonderful on day two too!
