  1. Very good icing, there is this sour cream cupcake that my daughter and I love and she wanted me to purchase for her bday, decided to do a search here to see if I could simply duplicate what they're selling and surprise my daughter with a cake. Tastes just like the icing on our favorite cupcake and with it costing 3 bucks a pop, this recipe will save me money! My only problem was I needed about double of what the recipe called for and goofed by putting in too much sour cream yet not wanting to put in a ton of sugar so it's a little bit soupy but still very good and will be my staple sour cream icing recipe.

  2. I didn’t use the tablespoon of sweet cream, just the two tablespoons of sour cream. This makes an icing that is similar in consistency to a buttercream but it is slightly less sweet and it is a little fluffier than buttercream. I was looking for a frosting that wasn’t as sweet as regular frosting and that wouldn’t get hard in the refrigerator. This was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. It also tastes better. It doesn’t have a tangy flavor in my opinion, just a little mellow and not too sweet. I used it to frost a vanilla cake and also used it for macaron filling. I wouldn’t say it replaces cream cheese icing for me, that is a different thing. I piped it for the macarons, but I haven’t tried any other kind of decorative piping with it.

  3. this is a great and simple recipe. its one of the best tasting frosting I have ever tasted. don't let that pic fool you. its fluffy and easy to spread. the picture makes it look thin like it would slide right off the cake. its the best. im shocked more people haven't tried it! do yourself a favor and whip some up today! you wont be sorry

  4. Delicious icing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really love the flavor that the sour cream gives this, much better-tasting than cream cheese and tastes gourmet. I added about double the amount of sour cream and cream for this amount of powdered sugar because I wanted to balance out the sweetness of the confectioner's sugar. I used this icing for recipe#328858 recipe by DrGaellon that I had filled with recipe#54152 by UnknownChef86. This icing was a complement to the sweet flavor of the prune filling. Thank you for this great icing recipe Rakow! Will definitely use this again!!!
