Excellent cookies!! I was slightly skeptical due to the cumin, which I enjoy but know some people don't care for at all, and was wonderfully surprised...yummy! Just a note for people who are concerned about texture (cake-like as opposed to crispyish) these were in-between to me. Just plain delicious. Thanks for sharing.

Yum! These aren't your average oatmeal raisin cookies... that cumin really adds a nice touch.

Tried these in a hurry for an unexpected invite to a friend's cottage to enjoy the autumn colours here in Ontario, Canada! They are delicious and so easy to whip up in my mixer. thanks so much! I'll be making these often. geoval2

What a surprise! This is a great recipe. It will be THE oatmeal raisin cookie recipe for me. Neighbors are my testers and they gave it two thumbs up!

I found these cookies wonderfully unique and ohhh so tasty. While I was baking them and for quite awhile afterward my house smelled like a cross between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think there is nothing better than that smell!!! Thank you so much for this recipe... it gave us all a glimpse of the holidays in the middle of summer.

I didn't have any raisins or ground cloves, but these turned out delicious anyway. I had no problem with the cookies being too dry, but I did only use 1 cup of flour, not 1.5 cups. I also cut the sugars and butter back to 3/4c each. Yum!

The spices meld and marry in the mix, so don't be put off by the unusual ingredients! A very good cookie: I did act on the warnings of others and added 1/3 cup buttermilk to the mix. The result was a moister cookie, but not cake-like that went very quickly from a plate at work :-)

I adore the spice mix... the subtle hot of the ginger and cayenne and the gentle yummy surprise of the cumin. However, texture was a huge issue... the raw dough doesn't hold together even after I hand rolled it into balls, and some of the cookies are very crumbly. An excellent recipe in theory but needs tweaking.

We enjoyed the taste of these very much. I'm a firm believer in putting a lot of spices in oatmeal cookies, and this recipe definitely fits the bill as far as the taste department goes. The cumin is a great idea, marrying nicely with the other spices. I probably never would have had the courage to try these, but there's a peanut butter cookie recipe here that calls for cayenne pepper and they are just scrumptious, so I knew I had to try these. All of this being said, I can only give this recipe three stars because of their dry and crumbly texture. I'll work with this and see if I can't make a less dry and crumbly cookie. Thank you for posting!

The spice combination is excellent despite my initial reservations when tasting the cookie dough. I found it to be a very dry cookie and a tad more butter or other liquid would probably make for a better consistency. They do stick together okay during baking though. Next time I would make this with chopped dates - now that would be sublime!

I followed this recipe exactly, measuring all amounts very carefully, but I have to agree completely with Najwa. Without the cumin the cookies would probably be very tasty. My husband and I felt we just didn't care for oatmeal cookies with an after taste of curry.
