Just made these, very yummy! I also added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter which was good. I don't think you need to reserve any of the batter to help put on top of the apple, i find it pointless. Just the chopped nuts work fine. As well I made apple pie filling then blended it rather then the can stuff as my mom says that stuff is nasty. lol

Delicious cookies! I definitely enjoyed these more a day after they were baked. But I found I would have liked some spices in the cookie dough as well. All in all, I enjoyed these a great deal. Thanks for sharing.

I really like these cookies! I always read remarks before trying any recipe, so used the hint about adding cinnamon, but to the filling. I thought I had a can of apple pie filling on hand but it turned out to be peach - and now am I ever glad! I also didn't have old fashioned oats and used the quick-cooking type and it worked great. These cookies are not too sweet - just right! I don't know how Roxanne J.R. found out they were better the second day - they didn't last that long here : o )
