"Great cookie that keeps well. This is one of my son's favorite cookies and I make them every Christmas. Easy to make. The melted chocolate chips make a lovely frosting."

directions

  • Combine crumbs, flour and baking soda and set aside.
  • Combine butter and brown sugar. Stir in beaten eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in 1 cup of the chocolate chips and the walnuts.
  • Spread mixture in greased 13x9 inch pan. Don't be alarmed if the mixture seems thick and doesn't fully cover the bottom of pan. It will as it bakes.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 16 to 18 minutes or till done.
  • Remove from oven and immediately spread remaining chocolate chips over top. When melted, spread like a frosting over the top. Cool and cut into bars.

  1. I made these as a treat for my kiddo's this week & they went over great! I would love to try adding a cup of mini marshmallows to make a s'mores like taste.

  2. These are definitely wonderful - we all agree - but I didn't notice till I started assembling them that brown sugar is not in the list of ingredients! Since I had already crushed my graham crackers and melted my butter, I looked up a few similar recipes and decided on using 3/4 of a cup which worked out fine. They are are really, really good! Thanks!

I'm an avid quilter and cook. We have very few restaurants here in our mountain valley (at 8000 ft) so I'm really honed my cooking skills since moving here. I love trying new recipes and my husband loves it too. Too many favorite cookbooks to list, but I've had fabulous sucess with all the recipes I've found at recipezaar.com.
