  • Let butter soften to room temperature.
  • Add sugar and mix thoroughly.
  • Add water, cocoa, vanilla and oats.
  • Cover and chill for 2-3 hours.
  • Pour powdered sugar in dish.
  • Roll walnut-sized bits of dough into balls, then roll in powdered sugar.
  • Store cookies in fridge.

Tweaks

  1. My sister's and I used to make this cookie 40 years ago. We enjoyed these adaptations also. Cut the butter to 1/2 cup and add 1/2 cup of peanut butter. Or switch the powdered sugar for instant chocolate milk powder. Both are yummy too.
