    StreyHart's Note:

I found this years ago in a little magazine called "Great Foods". I don't remember what they called it, but the first time I made it, it was so good that my collie, Duncan, and I split the whole thing for breakfast!!

    • 1 unbaked pie shell, of your choice (I use the store-bought ones because they're so easy.)
    • 2 cups milk
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    Directions:

    1. 1
Beat everything - except the crust :-) - together in a big bowl with a wire whisk.
    2. 2
Pour that into the pie crust and bake at 350 until the custard is set.

We really enjoyed this! So easy to put together, and takes very little time to bake. As there were no set baking instructions I looked at a few other recipes and followed those... so 10 minutes at 400F then 25 minutes at 350F worked great in my oven. Very good! Thank you for posting! Made for 2009 Spring PAC

Custard pie was one of my absolute favorites growing up, and this recipe delivers the goods. Were it not for the less-than-scratch crust I used, I could have closed my eyes and imagined my Grandmother had come back to bake us one more pie. No higher praise can I think of.
