"This recipe was passed down from my Grandmother, when my mother and her family lived in India in the 30's and 40's. If you like Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies you will love this recipe. They are simlar to a blonde brownie with chocolate chips, and nuts."

  • Melt shortening, add brown sugar, mix well.
  • While still hot add eggs one at a time, mix well after each egg. Add sifted dry ingredients, mix well.
  • Add nuts, chocolate chips, mix well. Spread
  • Mixture out onto greased 12”X17”X1” sheet baking pan. Bake in 350° oven, for 30 minutes.

  1. My family loved these cookie bars! Soft and chewy and the brown sugar gave them a nice flavor. I really liked that they were full of nuts! I made this for Spring PAC 2009!
     
  2. This makes a nice sized pan of bars to take to a gathering. They are soft and chewy. They did tend to stick to my bar pan though so next time I would use a piece of parchment paper to line the pan. Thanks for sharing. Made for Spring PAC 2009
