Wow! I just luv bananas and this cake rocks! So easy too. I baked it in an oblong pan and it cooked in 45 minutes. Along with the sliced banana, I strew the top with pecans, but I guess they could also be added to the cake batter. A winner, Mep.

Simple and easy to make ... moist and flavourful, too! I used 3 bananas that were hanging out in my freezer just waiting to be used up and canola oil instead of shortening (didn't have any). I know I'll be making this one again. In honour of MEP ... whose sense of humour and no nonsense personality will truly be missed.

Delicious cake that I will be making often. I prepared it with sadness though remembering MEP until I realized she wouldn't want anyone to feel that way. She will be missed around here.

This cake was wonderful. I'll be making it again and again. It will remind me of our friend MEP each time I make it. She will be truly missed.

This was the first time I've made banana cake and have it turn out so well. I didn't have any buttermilk on hand so I used 2/3 cup of milk with 3/4 tsp vinager. I also substituted the shortening with sunflower oil. This cake was very moist and fluffy!! Thanks for the recipe!

I took your suggestion, MEP, and made this cake for my daughter's birthday. I made it in a 9x13 pan and baked it for 40 minutes. It was perfect. The topping was a breeze to make and after I frosted it, I sprinkled some ground pecans on top. We had a big gathering tonight and everyone commented on how good the cake tasted. I will be making this again, Mep, and thanks for a terrific recipe.
