Although I omitted the cloves and nuts, and substituted butter for the shortening (I had run out), this was some of the best banana bread I have ever tasted. My family loved it. This was also the FIRST TIME I'd ever made banana bread, and I couldn't believe how EASY this recipe was. I made little cupcakes as well, and they were also excellent. I'll most definately be making this recipe again. Thanks!

I decided to try this recipe because the girls and I love banana bread, it was raved about on the boards 'and' I had 9 ripe bananas I needed to do something with. I've put off reviewing because I really regret that I can't honestly give it a higher rating. :-( It just tasted so bland to me. I did add cinnamon, cloves and nutmet (as well as walnuts), but it just seemed to be missing something. My daughters each tried one piece and didn't want any more. I ended up throwing almost all of it out on the third day. If I decide to make this again, it will be for an 'event' and I will kick up the cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg to at least 2 teaspoons each and may add some vanilla as well. The appearance and texture were great! Thank you for sharing your wife's recipe William. I'm sorry I have to report we were disappointed with it.

I followed the recipie to a "T", using 1/16 of a teaspoon of the spices for a das, and the bread as delicious. It was very moist and rich in banana flavor. I would recommend to a banana bread lover.

I love banana bread and this is my mom's recipe (posted under my dad's name). I've tried just about every Banana Bread recipe on the site and this is the best. I've eaten it since I was a kid and still enjoy it today (just finished a couple slices in fact). I don't know what it is that makes it so good... maybe it's the use of frozen bananas instead of fresh ones as my mom always did?

There were no walnuts in the sample I tasted, and 3/4 of the sugar. Tasted good. Walnuts would probably have been better.

I'm not cooking/baking much right now--but I was craving something sweet and moist. This was it! Fabulous. More sugar than we like to use--but okay for a special occasion. Perfect Dairy-Free recipe that we will make again-and-again. I made muffins and froze (most of) them. They are wonderful hot from the oven and cold a few minutes after you pull them out of the freezer!

Great Banana bread, makes so much bread and for some reason mine got quite dry. It was still good though!

Wow, terrific! I made two thirds of the recipe, as I had 7 large bananas in the freezer to use up. I went ahead and put them all in. I used half butter and half oil, as I do not use shortening or margarine, but wanted to economize a little. I was generous with the spices, especially the cinnamon and nutmeg, but I left out the nuts because I am not fond of nuts in cakes. I baked it in a 9"x13" cake pan. The result was a cake with a wonderful moist texture and great flavour.

This was EXCELLENT bread, and my 2 kids gobbled it up. My 10 year old made it, and we omitted the cloves because we didn't have any. I highly recommend this great bread!

I chose this recipe because it had a five star rating and used 9 banana's. I had 11 over ripe. I will buy banana's just let them get over ripe so I can make this again. It was moist and had a great texture. Thanks for posting this.
