  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 2 loaf pans.
  • Pour the lemon juice into the milk and stir until the milk is curdled. Set aside.
  • Beat together the butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add the eggs, mixing thoroughly.
  • Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add this to the butter-sugar mixture alternately with the curdled milk. Stir in the bananas and nuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pans and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

  1. This was a good banana bread, and I loved the flavour! I noticed that it had more sugar in it than the other banana breads I've made lately, and I wonder if that's what caused it to carmelize in the oven - it made it hard to remove from the pan, and it got overly dark as well. I would try this one again, just reducing the sugar, and watching it much closer in the oven. Thanks so much for the recipe! Made for My Three Chefs.
